Riding Menu

Equestrian at Coworth Park sets a new standard in equestrian recreation and is open for all hotel and local residents to experience the thrill of horse riding, whatever their level or ambition in the saddle. With beautifully bred, well trained and immaculately presented horses available for guests and local residents to ride across our 240 acre private estate, there is no end of opportunity to explore the beautiful Berkshire countryside from the unmistakable viewpoint of being on horseback. For those wishing to improve their riding ability further, we offer one-to-one or group lessons in basic riding, dressage and jumping on your own horses or on our selection of well trained schoolmaster horses and ponies.

Champagne Celebration ride (One hour) £85

For a special occasion, or just to enjoy the estate at its best, take advantage of our one hour ride, stopping off at The Barn for a glass of our Veuve Clicquot and a photo opportunity upon your steed.  For those of all abilities, escorted by our qualified instructors and taken at the pace of each individual rider.  From a sedate walk with a few opportunities to learn to trot for beginners, up to a good trot and canter around the estate for novice riders upwards. This ride is designed for everyone to enjoy the beautiful Coworth Park estate in comfort and safety on our beautiful horses.

CHILDREN & PONIES

We have several ponies suitable for children aged 4 years upwards to learn to ride from scratch or for those with previous experience to improve their knowledge and skill with expert tuition and supervision from our instructors. 
 
Own a pony half day  (Two Hours) £180
Coworth Park’s younger guests are invited to book through their kid’s concierge and come to the stables for two hours of fun. Here they will learn how to groom and care for their own special pony, tack up and go out for a fun ride which includes gymkhana games, riding to music and some jumping if desired before taking home their own Coworth Park grooming kit bag filled with horsey goodies including a photo of them with their pony.
 
Kids Riding Lessons and Hacks  (One Hour) £75
Over 7’s can enjoy a ride on one of our ponies which will be selected to fit their size and experience.  They can choose what they wish to do on their pony be it an hour hack out across the estate or having a 45 minute lesson in basic riding, jumping or dressage depending on their preferred interest.
 
Lead Rein Lessons and Hacks (30 Minutes) £50
Riders from 4 years old can enjoy a half hour session on a perfectly prepared pony to learn the basics of riding and get to grips with the essentials of horsemanship.  During their half hour session they will be given one-to-one instruction from our experienced trainers.
 
Children’s Birthday Parties                                                        
From £75 per child
Our team of ponies and staff are on hand to create and host a perfect pony party for groups of 4 children or more.  They will have fun brushing and plaiting the ponies’ manes, painting their feet and making their coats gleam before tacking up and taking a half hour turn around the estate on a lead rein ride and having their photo taken with their pony.  They will also enjoy some steady gymkhana games such as bending poles, sack races, apple bobbing and much more.  They can they re-fuel with a pony themed feast and a bespoke birthday cake before kissing their pony goodbye and taking home their Coworth Park grooming kit bag filled with tons of pony goodies as well as the photo of them with their pony.

HACKING
To see England properly, I recommend viewing it from the saddle, for the smell and creaking of leather and the company of a horse give it an atmosphere imaginative people can today only find in old novels – A F Tschiffely,  1935
 
Around Coworth Park Estate (One Hour) £75

Riding Lessons (One hour) £75

We offer lessons on our experienced and well trained horses and ponies in all disciplines, these schoolmasters, whilst not old, have competed successfully at a national level and are very much the best teachers for any rider wishing to learn.  Our expert instructors will offer guidance and tuition throughout the session to ensure every client gets the most out of this rare opportunity to ride such kind and knowledgeable horses.
 
Jumping (One hour) £75

We offer a variety of jumping lessons from grid work to a full course of show jumps in our fenced riding area within the gallop track.  Our skilled instructors will build grids and courses to develop your skill and confidence over jumps.

11 Lessons for price of 10
Monday to Thursday £650 / Friday to Sunday (and Bank Holidays) £750
Regular non-resident riders can take advantage of the exceptional facilities, horses and instruction by pre-paying for a block of 10 lessons and earning a complimentary 11th session.  Lessons do not need to be booked at time of purchase but must be taken within 6 months of purchase date.  100% cancellation fee will be applicable for sessions cancelled within 24 hours of the lesson start time.
 
Horsey Hotel                                                                                               
£35 per night
Guests of the hotel are welcome to bring their own horses and ponies with them for the duration of their stay provided horses are insured and vaccinated.  We will take the greatest care of your treasured friends and have them fully groomed and ready for you to ride when you wish to do so.  We can escort you on our own horses around the estate to discover its charms on your own best friend.

BOOKING AND CANCELLATION POLICY
Please note that bookings are deemed provisional until a completed rider information form is received at which point it will then be confirmed.  A 100% charge will be made for cancellations made within 24 hours of your lesson start time.  Cancellations made prior to this period will not be charged.

Guidelines to ensure a safe and comfortable ride

1.    We advise all persons participating in any equestrian activity to ensure they have personal accident insurance.
2.    No dogs allowed in the stables or riding areas. No smoking allowed in the stable areas.
3.    All clients are required to wear a riding hat approved to current safety standards whenever participating in riding activities or handling horses, the chin strap must always be fastened when riding.
4.    Suitable clothing must be worn when riding and around the horses. Legs must be and arms should be covered, suitable footwear with a small heel and not too much tread should be worn and gloves that provide some grip.  Please do not wear jewellery when around the horses or anything that flaps or could get caught.
5.    All riders under the age of 16 and adults participating in jumping lessons must wear body protectors, all riders will be offered body protectors prior to their ride.
6.    If clients or guests do not have the required safety equipment, Coworth Park will provide suitable hats, boots, half chaps, gloves and body protectors for them.
7.    All instructors are trained and competent to teach at their detailed level as well as being first aid trained.
8.    Bookings will not be confirmed until the rider information form form has been completed and returned to Equestrian.
9.    100% of the fee is charged at all times should any client cancel a booking within 24 hours of the lesson start time.
10.  Please arrive in good time before your booked session time to be fitted for riding equipment as we cannot extend lesson times for those who arrive late.
